About Us

Age Concern Sevenoaks & District is an independent local charity established in 1947 and is a member of the Age Concern Federation.

Our Mission Statement

To promote the well-being of all older people and to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

To achieve our mission on a daily basis we

Caring:  In today’s world a sensitive and understanding approach can make a big difference to people’s lives.  Everyday we aim to demonstrate a caring approach in our dealings with all people, be it in the day centre, or through the provision of information and advice in our office.

Effective:  We are fortunate that Kent County Council and Sevenoaks District Council recognise the value of the service that we provide and grant funding to assist us in achieving our objectives.  Similar recognition and funding is also sought from a number of organisations and Trusts that generously give to many initiatives in the community, albeit for more specific projects than the day-to-day running costs.  Nevertheless, it is essential that we make the best use of the resources available to us as we strive to make a positive difference to the lives of older people in the local community.

Enabling:  Where possible we aim to provide opportunities for older people to achieve what they want to in life.  Our commitment to this is exemplified with our Silver Surfers internet café where anyone aged over 65 within the community can benefit from one-on-one tuition, or simply use the resources to hone their skills.

Influencing:  We believe that it is essential that the needs and wants of older people are given due consideration by local authorities and organisations.  Age Concern Sevenoaks has worked hard to ensure that it has a voice in the community and can represent older people and their families wherever necessary.
